Wells needs some help...
PHILLY WEEKLY ARTICLE REVIEW
I never read any articles from Philly Weekly’s Steven Wells. Recently, I was looking at some music write-ups and a few of his articles came up. I read them. I read his music reviews, his opinions pieces, and his gruesome struggle with cancer.
After reading his article on his cancer experience “Cell Out,” I pitied him, and I admired his sadly humorous approach to the rapidly spreading sickness. I pretty much wanted to laugh at his witty writing, but felt so bad to do so.
However, I also noticed that most of his write-ups were extremely opinionated. As I was reading down Well’s one article “Not So Superstitious,” I started to get really uncomfortable. Does someone really have this much hatred toward religion? It seems that opinion fell off after the fourth line, and the article just became a downward spiral of a complete bash on religion. I wasn’t looking to read a hate letter, but somehow I stumbled upon one.
After reading the article I couldn’t help but stare at the screen of my computer in shock for a good ten minutes. My face became flushed, and I focused in on the words, "dumb-as-fuck defenders of selfishness and superstition.” There goes whatever respect I had for Wells as a writer. Yes―I was saddened by the fact that this was journalism. Good thing he has a pencil to express his anger and not a loaded gun. Else, we’d all be dead.
Man, Philly Weekly, not all of your audience is Atheist.

Speechless
"I gave you this...why are you taking what I've made for you and claiming it as your own?"
He's right, and I was left speechless in that moment when that question was brought up to me! None of this is mine...all the way to the very breath I breathe...none!
I forgot how far I've journeyed and who was with me the entire time. I forgot how much I have left to go, and who still needs to be there. I forgot there is a life after, and who I'll be spending it with.
I forgot...and I'm sorry...

Philly Mag: "Death of a Yuppie" Reaction
The economy is finally seeping into the glossy pages of Philadelphia Magazine. With their main feature on 68 ways to spend less, Philly mag was advising their ritzy reader to find alternatives to their expensive living. From cheaper places to shave your dog to happy hours that start a bit earlier, Philly mag was touching on every issue with saving money. They started off their main feature with "The Death of a Yuppie." This piece touched on the how the economy was hitting the upper-class of Philadelphia. Although it was a shame to see all this happen to the "Yuppie" folks, I would be lying if I did not admit that I chuckled a couple times. If I'm going down, at least they're coming down with me...

SOMETHING BETTER...

Something happens to you when you come across a great song. Not one of those songs that you can easily bob your head to, and tap you feet against the floor with.
Something better....
When you hear this special song, the lyrics are so deep, that it reaches into your chest and grabs a hold of your heart. Its digs in so hard that it's almost impossible to move--you're just still. What's in the power of a couple words accompanied by some notes? How does it command all your attention, and then some...?
My deep songs (excluding Christian..I would go on forever then...)
- "Meaning"-- Gavin DeGraw
- "You Found Me" --The Fray
- "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" -- John Mayer
- "Vultures" -- John Mayer
- "Dreaming with a Broken Heart"--John Mayer
- "Split Screen Sadness"--John Mayer
- "Everything"--Lifehouse
- "Bottle It Up"-- Sarah Bareilles
- "Chasing Pavements"--Adele
- "New Soul"--Yael Naim
- "Other Side of the World"--KT Tunstall
- "Live your life"--TI (I know...I know, but it has some deep lyrics)
